FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS
How long are your sessions?
Our first session will last between 60-90 minutes. All other sessions will be 45 minutes.
How frequently will we meet?
I see most people once per week but there are exceptions. If you are really struggling and need extra sessions, we can work to make that happen. On the other hand, as you make progress, you may only need to see me every 2 weeks or even monthly to maintain your progress. We will make these decisions jointly.
How long will I be in therapy?
The answer is always, ‘it depends’. Many people see me briefly to work on specific topics. For example, if you’re trying to improve your sleep, you might only need 4-8 sessions. Other people prefer to have ongoing therapy. We will make a plan, and adjust as necessary, to meet your needs and goals.
Do you prescribe medications?
No. I am familiar with medications and, if you would like, am happy to communicate with your prescriber (e.g., primary care physician, psychiatrist) in order to help them better help you
How will I know if you’re a good fit for me?
This can take some time and self-reflection. You can and should talk to me if you have concerns. It is important to be honest with me and give me feedback so I can adjust to meet your needs or refer you to someone who can give you the experience you’re looking for.
Why don’t you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider which means I don’t accept payment form insurance companies directly. Your plan, however, may reimburse you a portion of your financial investment if you have out-of-network coverage. You can ask your insurance the following:
-
Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?
-
What is my deductible?
-
How much do you cover for out-of-network providers?
